The United States over the weekend evacuated U.S. Embassy staff from the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, as gang violence escalated in the city and across the country. Last week, the gangs freed thousands of inmates in two large prisons in the capital and warned the country's prime minister, Ariel Henry, against setting foot in the country. Henry has been in Puerto Rico since returning from Kenya after the gangs shut the country's main airport.
