Pro-Russian activists in Niger Thursday expressed grief over the presumed death of Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, whose name was on a list of flight passengers aboard a private jet involved in an accident Wednesday near Russia’s capital, Moscow. Prigozhin was well respected in African nations such as Mali, Burkina Faso and recently Niger, where the eastern European mercenaries have a military presence and are aiding in the fight against insurgents.
