In this archived edition of the program, Linda Pappas Funsch discusses her book “Oman Reborn: Balancing Tradition and Modernization.” She tells host Carol Castiel that the Sultanate of Oman is a truly “good news” story in a region wracked by instability. Friend to all and enemy to none, Oman possesses a unique blend of tradition and modernization that has enabled it to succeed where others in the region have failed. Its seafaring history has exposed the Sultanate to remote lands such as Zanzibar which has contributed to Oman’s openness toward other societies and cultures.
