Millions of African Women Suffer From Inadequate Maternal Care
Obstetric fistula, considered to be one of the most devastating and serious childbirth injuries, occurs when a mother has a prolonged, obstructed labor, but does not have access to emergency medical care, such as a C-section. At least one million women in Africa and Asia are currently suffering from untreated fistula, according to the Fistula Foundation. For more, Africa 54 health correspondent Linord Moudou Linord Moudou spoke to Serigne Magueye Gueye, professor of Urology at the University Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar, Senegal.
