Al-Qaida claims Burkina Faso attack, civilians killed
An al-Qaida affiliate with operations in Burkina Faso has claimed responsibility for an attack which it says was on soldiers in Barsalogho, a town located 130 kilometers north of the capital, Ouagadougou. Burkinabe military officials have not disclosed the death toll, but said civilians were among the victims, despite the rebel group insisting that it only killed “fighters.” Reuters’ Emma Jehle has more in this report that has blurred graphic images that some may find distressing.
