Dozens of DRC soldiers go on trial for rape, killings
The trial of 84 Democratic Republic of Congo soldiers accused of murder, rape and other crimes against civilians in the country’s conflict-battered east has begun, according to the Associated Press. The soldiers are accused of having broken into civilians' houses in several villages of Kabare et Kalehe territories in the eastern province of South-Kivu over the weekend, raping several women and killing at least 12 people. Meanwhile, reporter Al Katanty Sabiti Djaffar in Goma tells VOA’s James Butty, life returned to some normalcy in the city on Monday as schools reopened along with the resumption of burials
