Congo’s President Tshisekedi calls for Rwandan troops exit from country
Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix Tshisekedi has called for the immediate withdrawal of Rwandan troops from the DRC. He also calls for targeted sanctions on Rwanda for what he calls its policy of destabilizing his country. President Tshisekedi has accused Rwanda of supporting M23 rebels operating in eastern DRC. Kigali has also accused Kinshasa of supporting the ethnic Hutu FDLR rebels. Both countries are currently involved in the so-called Luanda Peace Process. Addressing the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly through an interpreter Wednesday, President Tshisekedi said the DRC is committed to peace but wants to preserve its sovereignty
