Rwandan opposition candidate expresses optimism of poll victory
Rwandans will vote in 10 days in presidential and parliamentary elections. Opposition candidate Frank Habineza of the Green Party says he is in a better position to do well in 2024 than in the two previous elections in which President Paul Kagame took 96 percent of the vote. Habinez is one of only two candidates allowed to challenge President Kagame. Several others, including two prominent women, have been denied the right to participate. Habineza tells VOA’s James Butty, the election is about hope and finding permanent solutions to problems affecting Rwandans, including youth unemployment.
