Nigeria unions reject government's minimum wage offer
Negotiations between labor and the Nigerian government have stalled raising the prospects of another countrywide strike. The last strike crippled critical sectors of the economy. A government committee offered a monthly wage of 60,000 naira ($41.38), which unions rejected. Frank Tietie, Executive Director, Citizens Advocacy for Social and Economic Rights told VOA’s Chinedu Offor, the country’s economy could collapse if both sides are unable to reach a compromise.
