As Ramadan begins in Nigeria, many parents remain in anguish and shock with the multitude of kidnappings by Islamic extremists that continue to happen at schools in the country’s northwest. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to the head of VOA's Hausa Service, Aliyu Mustapha, on why the kidnappings continue to occur even during the holy month of Ramadan.
