Father of Israeli Hamas Hostage Speaks on Son’s Capture
As the Israel-Hamas war continues, families of the remaining hostages taken during the October 7 attack on Israel say they are desperate for answers about their loved ones. Shai Wenkert, the father of 22-year-old Omer Wenkert who was taken by Hamas militants at the Supernova Sukkot Gathering, or Nova fest, spoke to VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart about his family's concerns for Omer, who has a chronic digestive disease known as colitis, and their calls for his return.
