The United Nations' human rights chief Volker Turk has called on Sudan's generals to "stop the senseless violence" after clashes were heard in Khartoum, despite a week-long cease-fire. Residents said clashes between rival military factions could be heard overnights in parts of the Sudanese capital despite a week-long cease-fire aimed at allowing for the delivery of aid and a ground work for a more lasting truce.
