UN Appeals for $3 Billion in Aid for Sudan
The U.N. said on Wednesday that it seeks $3 billion for urgent humanitarian aid for Sudan amid a massive increase in the number of people impacted by more than a month of heavy fighting in the northeastern African nation. “Today 25 million people, more than half the population of Sudan, needs humanitarian aid and protection,” the head and representative of OCHA in Geneva Ramesh Rajasingham said at a press briefing at the U.N. in Geneva. “This is the highest number we have ever seen in the country," Rajasingham added.
