Carol Castiel talks with Time Magazine’s Political Correspondent Molly Ball, about her new book “Pelosi,” which chronicles the rise to power of Nancy Pelosi, current Speaker of the House of Representatives. Ball dispels many myths about the most powerful woman in US politics. (Pelosi is second in the presidential line of succession after the vice president.) The daughter of a political family in Baltimore of Italian descent, Pelosi, a staunch Catholic, marries and has five children. After moving to San Francisco, she rises through the Democratic Party ranks. Ball tells VOA that Nancy Pelosi’s story personifies the rise of women in US politics, whose influence has forever changed the US political landscape.
