Promoting international religious freedom has been a key component of America’s foreign policy since 1998 when Congress passed the International Religious Freedom Act. Host Carol Castiel sits down with Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, Sam Brownback, whose office monitors religious persecution and discrimination worldwide. Brownback talks about “Countries of Particular Concern” or CPC countries such as China, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, which are egregious violators of religious freedom and/or which persecute religious minorities. He also lauds countries like Morocco and the UAE, and others like Nigeria and Mongolia, which are trying to promote greater religious tolerance and pluralism.
