Who Holds Russia Accountable for its Disinformation Campaign in Africa?
Russia is making "tremendous' gains in its disinformation propaganda in Africa recently, says Dan Whitman, a fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute in the U.S. state of Philadelphia. Whitman described Moscow’s disinformation campaign as the “most rapid propaganda successes in the history of propaganda.” He says the Kremlin is riding on the wave of political instability happening across the continent to its benefit. Whitman spoke to VOA’s Ignatius Annor on a wide range of issues, including his concerns about a possible Russian interference in the U.S. 2024 elections, and who should hold the Kremlin accountable for its disinformation campaigns.
