US President Trump rescinds Refugee Admissions Program
Last week, President Donald Trump signed an executive order suspending the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) effective today. The order states that record levels of migration have overwhelmed various states, making this halt necessary. It argues that admitting more refugees could negatively impact U.S. interests, with exceptions allowed only if deemed in the national interest and free of security risks. For further insight, VOA's Paul Ndiho spoke with Pamela Asobo-Anchang, publisher and executive editor of "The Immigrant Magazine," based in Los Angeles, California, about the implications for refugees.
