UN: Sudan Conflict Complicates Humanitarian Efforts
The United Nations says Sudan's conflict is complicating the humanitarian situation in Abyei, along on the border between South Sudan and Sudan. U.N. Assistant Secretary-General Martha Ama Akyaa Pobee told the Security Council in New York on Tuesday that the conflict "has disrupted deployment routes and postponed the arrival of additional equipment and personnel." Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, the U.N. special representative for the African Union, said the instability could lead to the return of more than 200,000 South Sudanese refugees hosted by Sudan.
