United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres called for reform of the global financial structure while addressing the BRICS summit in Johannesburg on Thursday. "The pandemic has underscored once again how the global financial architecture is outdated, dysfunctional and unjust," Guterres said. Guterres also stressed that multilateralism must be “rooted in 21st-century realities, based on the U.N. charter and international law.”
