UN Agency Calls For Lifting of Gaza Siege
The humanitarian situation in Gaza became more dire on Monday as the Israeli blockade continues in apparent preparation to root out Hamas insurgents. One account by Reuters said residents were getting more desperate as water was running out and garbage piling up. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) spokesperson Juliette Touma briefed reporters virtually at the United Nations on Monday and described what she called a tragic situation on the ground in Gaza. She said her agency was calling for lifting the siege on Gaza so that humanitarian organizations can deliver much needed supplies into Gaza.
