Ugandan opposition figure Kizza Besigye on hunger strike
One of Uganda’s main opposition figures, Kizza Besigye, who is on trial in a military tribunal for allegedly possessing illegal fire firearms, has begun a hunger strike, according to his wife, Winnie Byanyima. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Roland Ebole, a regional researcher for Amnesty International, for more on Besigye’s condition. Ebole also recently visited Besigye in prison while in Uganda.
