The Association of Gynecologists and Obstetricians of South Sudan says more than 1,000 mothers die in childbirth for every 100,000 live births. For South Sudan in Focus, Deng Ghai Deng reports the group’s president says the high maternal mortality rate is due to early pregnancy, low payment of healthcare workers and limited transfusion services.
