Senegal’s Opposition Warns Sanko’s Health Worsening
In Senegal, a member of the opposition party African Patriots of Senegal for Work, Ethics and Fraternity (PASTEF) says the health of its leader, Ousmane Sonko, is deteriorating. Sonko has been on a hunger strike since July 30 at Dakar’s main hospital to protest what he calls politically motivated charges against him. He is under 24-hour police guard. PASTEF member Nafissa Dia tells VOA’s James Butty, Sonko sent a message through his lawyers about the Niger coup and ECOWAS’ threat of military intervention.
