Rights watchdog opposes SSudan’s Security Act
The United Nations Human Rights Council says South Sudan’s National Security Service bill, passed by legislators last week and awaiting signing, could encourage arbitrary detention and further repression by the country's spy agency. Yasmin Sooka, chair of the human rights council, told VOA’s John Tanza that President Salva Kiir should return the bill to the legislature in order to align it with South Sudan’s human rights obligations.
