According to NBC News, Biden was scheduled to depart for Berlin on Thursday and then to Angola. This would have been his first visit to Africa as president. Amnesty International released a statement calling on Biden to press Angolan President Joao Lourenco to release five government critics arbitrarily detained for more than a year.
