Palestinians Scramble for Safety as Israel Pounds Gaza
Israel has stepped up airstrikes on the Gaza Strip after sealing it off from food, fuel and water supplies in retaliation for a deadly incursion by Hamas militants on Saturday. The death toll has risen to nearly 1600 on both sides, according to the Associated Press. Some civilians say they have limited access to electricity. For more, VOA’s Carol Van Dam spoke to Gaza resident Nowar Diab, a member of the Palestinian group called We Are Not Numbers, who says she and her neighbors are being bombarded by airstrikes day and night.
