Opposition Calls for New Leadership in Liberia
The new chairperson of Liberia’s former ruling party, Unity Party, Luther Tarpeh says the current situation in Liberia points to the need for new leadership. Tarpeh cites public corruption, rice shortages, failed census, and the delayed payment of public servants’ salaries. He says the only opposition leader with the experience to tackle the problems confronting Liberia is 78-year-old party leader Joseph Boakai who served as vice president during former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s two terms in office. VOA’s James Butty spoke with Tarpeh.
