Nigerian rights group faults plan to gift cars, houses to judges
In Nigeria, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to stop the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory – Nyesom Wike – and governors to stop giving cars and houses to judges. Minister Wike did not respond to our message for comment. Kolawole Oluwadare, deputy director of SERAP, tells VOA’s James Butty, such alleged practices violate the principle of separation of branches of government and compromise the integrity and independence of the judiciary
