Nigeria Air Force Accepts Blame For Deadly Bombing Error
The Nigerian Air Force said Sunday it was responsible for last year’s bombing that killed about 85 ethnic Fulani herders in Nasarawa state. Reuters reports Sunday the air force acknowledged responsibility and said its chief of staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, visited affected communities over the weekend after reviewing reports of the incident. Auwal Ibrahim Musa Rafsanjani, Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Center and head of Transparency International (Nigeria), tells VOA’s James Butty, his group welcomes the acceptance of responsibility, but the government must identify all family members of the victims and properly compensate them.
