Twapalwa Kangwa, a media and journalism student at the University of Zambia, is a survivor of a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot, or TOF, which she was diagnosed with at age three. Since then, the now 23-year-old southern African has had multiple heart surgeries, including a recent one which was performed at AdventHeart in the U.S. state of Florida. For insight into Kangwa’s condition, VOA’s Paul Ndiho spoke with Dr. Sula Muzimba, one of the surgeons who performed the procedure on the journalism student.
