Sudan's northern neighbor, Egypt, has become a major destination for many Sudanese refugees fleeing the conflict in their homeland. The Associated Press spoke to more than a dozen of Sudanese families in Cairo, Aswan, and Abu Simbel – the latter two are the first Egyptian cities the refugees arrive after crossing the borders. The refugees include Mohammed Abdel-Azim, an account, who said they have had to flee because it soon became clear things were getting increasingly dangerous. Egyptian authorities say at least 67,000 Sudanese nationals have crossed the shared borders so far, with the U.N. refugee agency adding that the number is projected to climb to some 350,000.
