Malawi lawyer hails reversal of Immigration Director’s appointment
A Malawi lawyer and immigration officer says he feels vindicated after a Malawi High Court nullified the appointment of the new director of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services. The court says Charles Kalumo’s appointment violated the law. Lawyer Chikhulupiliro Zidana tells VOA’s James Butty, the court judgment proves his case that President Lazarus contravened the Public Service Act when he appointed Kalumo. The law says that anyone over 60 years of age should retire from public service, and Kalumo was 70 years old when he was appointed.
