M23 rebels overrun another DRC town despite ceasefire declaration
The M23 rebels who seized the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo city of Goma last week are said to be gaining new ground despite their declaration of a unilateral ceasefire. The Associated Press cites officials and residents in eastern DRC who say that the M23 Wednesday took control of a mining town between occupied Goma and another provincial city, Bukavu. Reporter Al Katanty Sabiti Djaffar in Goma tells VOA’s James Butty, the M23 has also appointed a governor for North Kivu province and called for a general meeting Thursday
