AU Mediator Uhuru Kenyatta to Travel to Tigray Former Kenyan president and African Union mediator Uhuru Kenyatta announced Thursday he will travel to Tigray's capital Mekele with the AU monitoring and verification team to check on the implementation of the Ethiopian peace deal. Speaking before reporters after a command meeting with Ethiopian government representatives and Tigrayan officials in Nairobi, Kenyatta said the team would be in Mekele "before the end of this month."
