Kenya’s opposition demands release of a human rights activist
There’s a call for the Kenyan police to unconditionally release human rights activist Boniface Mwangi who was arrested Sunday morning. A police spokesperson confirmed Mwangi’s arrest to VOA and where he is being detained but declined to say why. Local media quote Mwangi’s wife as saying that six people arrested her husband at their home. The Kenya Standard say Mwangi had called for a protest against the government. Martha Karua, leader of the National Rainbow Coalition – Kenya party, tells VOA's James Butty, Mwangi should be released unconditionally because the Kenyan Constitution protects citizens against arbitrary arrests
