Former Zambia President’s Family Accuses Government of Media Smear

In Zambia, the family of former President Edgar Lungu says the government is behind media allegations of corruption against them.The government arrested former President Edgar Lungu’s son and daughter-in-law on allegations of money laundering to purchase property worth more than $5 million dollars. Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga told VOA in June the two own 69 motor vehicles and other properties believed to have been bought through illegal activities. Tasila Lungu, daughter of former President Lungu, tells Daybreak Africa host James Butty, the family feels tabloids are using the case to go after their father.
