Efforts Intensify to End Nigeria Tanker Drivers Strike
The Secretary-General of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers Association Olawale Afolabi says he’s hopeful the fuel tanker drivers’ strike which began Monday would be resolved Tuesday. According to Reuters, the drivers went on strike Monday over rising operational costs due to the recent second devaluation of the naira and the state of Nigeria’s roads. Afolabi tells VOA’s James Butty, negotiations for better freight rates will continue Tuesday.
