Eastern and southern Africa leaders meet to address conflict in eastern DRC
Eastern and southern African leaders met over the weekend in Dar es Salaam to address growing concerns over the conflict in the DRC between M23 rebels and the Congolese government. DRC President Felix Tshisekedi and Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who is accused of supporting the M23 rebels, participated at the summit aiming at allaying fears that the conflict could develop into a wider, regional war. VOA’s Paul Ndiho spoke to Ricky Mukonza, a political analyst and professor at Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa, for an analysis into how the region is working to deescalate the conflict.
