Recent research findings by Human Rights Watch say civilians are fleeing El Geneina, a city in West Darfur, Sudan, hit by repeated militia attacks as the war between the nation’s warring faction continues. The violence in El-Geneina over the past two months has been driven by militias from Arab-nomadic tribes along with members of the Rapid Support Forces — the military faction engaged in a power struggle with Sudan's army in the capital, Khartoum. Some 2.5 million people have uprooted and approximately 600,000 have crossed into neighboring nations. For more, VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Akshaya Kumar, director of crisis advocacy at Human Rights Watch.
