Death Toll of South Africa Gold Mine Exceeds 31
South African Mineral Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe said Monday more suspected illegal miners have probably died in the abandoned Virginia Mine in Free State. The illegal miners are believed to be Lesotho nationals, according to South Africa’s authorities who said the deaths possibly happened on May 18, although the cause remains unknown.
