Contract Killings Worsen South Africa’s Murder Rate
Last week, police in South Africa released statistics that showed more than 7,500 murders in the country in the last three months of 2022, an average of 82 a day, with only 1 in 5 cases solved. South Africa’s annual murder rate places the country in second place globally, behind El Salvador. Police blame contract killers for some murders. VOA correspondent Darren Taylor has more.
