Angola looks to mediate conflict between DRC and M23 rebels
Angola says it will attempt to broker direct talks between the Democratic Republic of Congo and M23 rebels in the coming days. It was not immediately clear if the DRC government would take part in discussions, however the country's presidential spokesperson told Reuters authorities took note of this initiative, while an M23 deputy spokesperson called it "a victory of reason" and confirmed the group's presence at the negotiations. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Florindo Chivucute, an Angola-based political analyst, for a look at what steps the country is taking to bring both sides to the table.
