Soldiers in Niger late Wednesday announced a government takeover, imposing a curfew and closing borders in a country that is a key United Sates ally in West Africa. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who spoke with Niger's President Mohamed Bazoum Wednesday, said U.S. economic and security partnership with Niger depended on the continuation of democratic governance.
