A jury in Liberia’s capital, Monrovia, has found former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott and three members of her family guilty of murder, criminal conspiracy, and raising a false alarm to police. Justice Scott and her co-defendants were indicted last year for their alleged role in the stabbing death of her foster daughter. Scott told VOA in March that she was concerned the police were trying to make her a scapegoat for a purported attack by armed men on her home and the killing of her foster daughter. She said the assault was an attempt to assassinate her. Counselor Augustine Fayia, a member of Justice Scott’s defense team, tells VOA’s James Butty, the team is disappointed by the verdict and is conferring about its next move.
