The United Nations has expressed “deep concern” over a recently circulated video of a Sudanese man asking for a fatwa at a public event to allow him to assassinate Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Sudan, Volker Perthes. Perthes is part of a mediation process to restore civilian rule in Sudan following a 2021 coup.
