Two months ago, Raila Odinga and his running mate, Martha Karua, lost Kenya’s August 9 elections to now President William Ruto. Karua, the first-ever Kenyan woman vice presidential nominee, vowed to take her case to the East African Court of Justice on November 3rd. Karua says she wants the regional court to order the Kenyan Supreme Court and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to investigate her claims of electoral irregularities in the 2022 presidential elections. VOA’s James Butty spoke with her about the purpose of her petition in protecting the rule of law and future electoral integrity in Kenya.
