The spokesperson for the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Abyei (UNISFA) says recent attacks which killed dozens of people and displaced tens of thousands of civilians seem to be well-coordinated, adding that the mission lacks capacity to deter violence; The governor of Western Bahr el Ghazal State, Sarah Cleto Hassan, is expressing concern about the dismissive attitude of some men towards women leaders in South Sudan as a result of inherited norms and cultures; Some South Sudanese women say protracted conflict and economic hardship have forced them to take up the responsibility of providing for their families beside the domestic duties to their children and husbands
