In Hong Kong, millions of protestors took to the streets to demonstrate against a controversial bill proposed by the Beijing-backed Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, which would have allowed extraditions to mainland China. After weeks of protests, which at times turned violent, Lam succumbed to the popular will and suspended the legislation.
