A new study says people who live near large dams in sub-Saharan Africa are at least a four times more likely to contract malaria. And it warns that with many new dams expected to be built in the region, malaria cases could rise by tens of thousands annually. VOA’s Joe De Capua interviewed the co-author of the report, researcher Matthew McCartney of the International Water Management Institute.
