Lokua Kanza (DRC) - Music Time in Africa
Heather spins a pan-African playlist of current afrobeats (Tewa Savage, Guchi), amapiano (Shuffle Muzik), hiplife (Wendy Shay), bongo flava (Rayvanny) and more from artists Tiiw Tiiw, Jah Prayzah, and Witty Minstrel. She also presents two special features. First, a review of the new compilation album of East African, electronic music Music for the Eagles, brought by music journalist Bill Odidi and his guests, trance artist AfroRack (Uganda) and shrap artist Boutross Munene (Kenya). Second, Maxwell presents her in-depth interview with Lokua Kanza. The Paris-based Congolese music veteran and newly appointed UNICEF ambassador for the DRC released his 7th album Moko after an eleven-year hiatus. They talk about that, listen to samples from his new, 14-track work, and Lokua says goodbye with an impromptu live performance.
